Gerald "LINUS"'s Story
I grew up in western Kansas in the oil field regions that my dad worked, such as Bogue & Palco, KS. My family moved to Topeka, KS when I was 15. I later graduated from Highland Park High School, in Topeka KS, May 1964. First job after high school was working as a small engine mechanic for my dad at the John Deer Lawn & Tractor store. I hired on with the local railroad 1966 where I trained & worked as a licensed sheet metal worker. I was drafted in the army from May 1967- May 1969. I was assigned as a rifleman in Co. A, 1st Battalion of 1st Infantry Division's 2nd Infantry near Phuoc Vinh, Vietnam for one year (the Big Red One).

rted Washburn University full-time in 1977 & graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Washburn University May 1979. I officially resigned from the railroad summer of 1979 and began medical school that fall at Kansas University Medical School. I now practice as a board certified Family Practice physician for a large hospital employer at a satellite clinic. I have been married for over 25 years and we have one son who is single.
I love listening to blues & rock music, attending music concerts, boating and swimming with my wife. I have a little garden I enjoy puttering in after work. I would love to track down some of the guys I served with in Vietnam but have lost contact with all of them. Hope to hear from any guys I served with back in 1967-69. I also go by the nick names of Jerry & Linus.
